Is cooking on gas dangerous?

Cooking on gas increases the risk of asthmatic complaints!

When cooking with gas, particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide are released when natural gas is burned. Cooking on induction also emits particulate matter.

These substances are not good for your health and can lead to asthmatic complaints, especially in children. But adults who already have lung complaints can also develop additional complaints. TNO research shows that in the Netherlands there could be as many as 70,000 children with reported asthma complaints.

Tips to prevent unhealthy air in your home

It is best to remove the cooking fumes directly with an extractor hood. Experiments show that for good extraction a minimum capacity of 300 m3/hour is required during cooking. The building regulations assume 75 m3/hour, so it is not surprising that the air quality is unhealthy in many homes.

An air purifier is a good way to reduce the number of harmful substances in your home. These devices (provided they are equipped with the correct filter combination) suck in the air and clean unhealthy air, such as particulate matter, gases and even odors.

Our systems are equipped with a medical-grade filter combination and measure air quality several times per second. So when cooking, they automatically ensure that the air is clean again as quickly as possible.
