What is air pollution?
Air pollution is a collective term for harmful substances that float around in the air.
Some of these substances can be seen with the unaided eye, but most of these particles are invisible to us and can cause damage to our health in the short and long term.
Research shows that as much as 30% (!) of all sick-leaves are caused by contaminants in the air, such as (fine) dust, pollen, viruses and fungi.
The benefits of an indoor climate without harmful substances
Clean, purified air can help prevent complaints such as allergic reactions, coughing and breathing problems in the short and long term.
The World Health Organization has shown that the spread of viruses such as COVID-19 is airborne and that poorly ventilated areas are the main source of contamination.
In addition, companies that pay close attention to indoor air quality have significantly lower absenteeism and healthier, more productive employees. Customers and visitors can also visit with a feeling of safety, if they know that the air is actively cleaned.
How does ventilation ensure better indoor air quality?
“Indoor spaces should always be regularly ventilated,” as advised by the World Health Organization and global government agencies. But why is a supply of 'fresh' air necessary?
Airing or ventilating can be done by opening a window or door, or by means of (mechanical) ventilation. Fresh air then flows (O2 – oxygen) into the room, which ensures that the 'used' air is exchanged and diluted.
Well-ventilated living or working spaces have lower CO2-levels, which improves the ability for persons to concentrate. In addition, the chance of discomforts such as headaches and fatigue is considerably lower if the room is well-ventilated.
Is ventilation the solution to indoor air pollution?
Constant ventilation is an effective way to remove most of the fine dust, harmful gases, virus particles, odors and fumes.
However, the problem is that the remaining contaminants can still float through the room for hours. Also pollen (pollen from plants and flowers), particulate matter, soot particles (from passing traffic) and unpleasant odors easily enter through open windows or doors.
To completely clean the room from all air pollution, more than just ventilation is needed.
Air cleaning systems or air purifiers are the ideal addition to ventilation.
It has been scientifically proven that our air cleaning systems can purify the air of pollutants with an efficiency of more than 99.995% per filtration cycle.
Ventilation during the cold winter period
When the temperature outside drops, we close the windows and doors to keep the cold air out. This way, we avoid drafts and an unpleasant working or living environment.
Without ventilation, the number of contaminants in the room increases rapidly.
CO2-values are rising and the risk of contamination with COVID-19 also increases, because virus particles can remain in the air for several hours.
Air purification as a solution
Air cleaning systems have been developed against indoor air pollution.
The air is drawn in by the device, after which it is purified by using several filter techniques.
The key to a healthy indoor climate without pollution lies in combining the supply of fresh outside air and purifying the polluted air that is still present in the room with air purification.
Are you staying in a room for a longer period of time? Then air purification is the perfect solution against air pollution such as unpleasant odors, vapours, dust and harmful aerosols!
How do I choose the right air purifier?
The effectiveness of an air purifier and the number of harmful particles the system can purify depends entirely on the filter combination and the power of the device.
The effectiveness is expressed as Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR). The CADR is the volume/flow rate for the number of cubic meters of air (m³/h) that can be purified by the device per hour.
The size of the particles and the percentage of these particles that can be cleaned also play a role in the effectiveness of the system.
Example
As an example, let's take a room of 100m² with a height of 2.20m. This space has a volume of 220m³. With the advice of the World Health Organization (WHO) that every room should be cleaned at least 2.5 to 3 times an hour every hour, an air purifier with at least 550m³/h CADR is required.
To make calculating the required CADR easier, we have developed a smart cleaning calculator!
The unique features of our air purifiers
Medical HEPA Filtration
The AirExchange® air purifiers are equipped with a medical grade HEPA filter, which can achieve a cleaning efficiency of more than 99.995% per filtration cycle.
These filters are used in the aerospace industry and are extremely effective for cleaning (ultra) small particles.
Powerful UV-C light treatment
Our systems use a powerful UV-C light treatment (ultraviolet, electromagnetic, short-wave radiation).
This renders the nuclei of all remaining micro-organisms harmless, without releasing harmful substances (such as ozone).
VORTEX technology
Our unique VORTEX technology creates an upward airflow, causing an overpressure of clean air at the top of the room and pushing the contaminants downwards, towards the device.
The advantage? Effective cleaning of all corners of the room and no draft side-effects.
Super quiet and accessible
Due to the unique build-up of the systems, our air purifiers are extremely quiet. Combined with a high cleaning capacity, our systems are suited for the purification of large spaces where silence is desired.
In our application you can control the device remotely, set a work schedule and see all the data that is measured by the sensors.
Quality makes the difference
Air purifiers come in all shapes and sizes. However, are you looking for a durable device that you will enjoy for years to come? Then AirExchange® offers the products that you all looking for.
We only use premium materials and components for the production of our air purifiers. For example, the devices are equipped with a powder-coated or anodized, steel or aluminum housing that can withstand a hit and that will last for years.
